buying a new stock
it's been years since i did a preinletted stock, but i ordered one from richards in exhibition american walnut for a short action ruger 77. that was in march, they said 6 week delivery, long gone past, i've emailed and called them but get no answers. I'm about ready to cancel the order. question is if i cancel, who else do i order from?

I would buy a blank and then send it off to a reputable duplicator. I'll suggest Mike Kokolus. It'll be a much better product and you may even save a buck or two.

I agree.....I've never used Kokulus but heard good things.....I've been using Dennis Olson and I've been dearly happy with him!

Call Richards late in the afternoon, you'll usually get them. Their estimation on delivery, as you have found out, is optimistic in the extreme. I have bought from them quite a bit and have always been satisfied with what I got, just not the time frame. Of course, I'm really patient when it comes to that, Dennis Olson has had my rifle for two years and the only way I get an update is if I call him.

Butch- I'm in the same boat as you. I ordered a stock in April for my 358 Win project and have not gotten any response in the last couple of months when e-mailing them. Hoped to get the rifle done for elk season this year but have no idea if I will see the stock for this season or next! Frowner

I have just received a stock from Northwood gunstocks for a M24/47 I am going to build. It looks very good as far as the inletting goes and I got it with in a week.
You might take a look at their web site and see if there is something. www.northwoodgunstock.com
I have given up on Richards and GAG.
