I need a piece of dark wood
I hate to admit this but I screwed up a stock I was working on. Mad The mill vise came loose while I was inletting a sling swivel and made a larger than necessary hole. So.......If I could find a piece of dark wood perhaps ebony or such I could inlet it into the hole and have a nice contrast to remind me to make sure everything is tight when inletting. I would need a piece about one inch square and maybe 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 long. The stock is English walnut with black streaks, a really nice piece of wood.
any help would be apprecated

Could a larger swivel base cover it up?? Like something off a pre64 m70?

install the swivel in a piece of ebony. Just use a larger mill cutter to oversize the slot and install a piece of ebony.....it might look intentional.

I can send a piece of ebony if you like.

I've got some reject Clarinet bells out of African Blackwood which is blacker than my heart. I don't have one in my hand as I write, but they are easily larger than your size requirements. IIRC correctly they cost me about $5 each, with shipping it would be about $10 for one. I have ebony too. If you have to have ebony, I can check on what I've got on hand. I am not a wood seller, just a wood nut. Let me know if I can help.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.
