KabluewyI've got related questions.
Is the magazine length for the Vanguard in 300 Wby the same length for their 300 Win Mag, and the 7mm Rem Mag?
Isn't the Howa magnum action the same length as the Vanguard?
Aren't they all the same length?

BadboyzNothing like a bunch of smart asses...
(Grin).
The .300 Win Mag (Howa) that I have will not hold a .375 H & H. What I am thinking of doing is building a .340 Weatherby off of a Vanguard. I'm hoping that since it already has the relief if the receiver to eject a loaded round, the magazine length will be long enough. Since the COAL for a .340 is 3.675".
Thanks.

ramrod340Well the 340 Wby has always confused the heck out of me. I've seen references to the 3.675" (from Chuck Hawke's site as an example) But then my Nosler book and LoadTech calls the max 3.56 the same as the 300Wby.
The 300 & 340 have the same length case. The Howa and Vanguard actions are the same length.
Reguardless of what the official COAL length for factory 340WBY is there is no reason you could not build a 340 on the Howa set up for the same COAL as the 300Wby. You simply could not use the longer factory ammo.

J BennettI have a Weatherby Vanguard in 300 Wby on the bench now for restocking. The inside box measurement is, 3.575.
