DEPUTY450Recoil pad options for a 45-70 Guide Gun????
Guys I need some help with recoil pad options. I have loaded up some hot loads for my Guide Gun and the stock recoil pad is kicking the snot out of me. What are some options other than the KICK EEZ brand (I don't care for the big screw holes)?
Thanks for the help.

M PursellJay, the KICK-EEZ pad comes with plugs to fill the screw holes. Cut them to the right length and the hole in not objectionable.
How about a Pachmyer Decelerator? It comes in .5 & 1" thicknesses, choice of black, brown and now red color.

ZachPachmayer sells a pre-fit decelerator for the guide gun. The holes on mine lined up exactly with the originals.

GibI'm pleased with the Decelerator on my GG.

Recoil RobDoes anyone know if the pre-fit pad that Pachmayr make for the guide gun will fit my 336?

LoneEagleJust be sure you know where your screwdriver bit is after installing the new pad! Seriously, I read somewhere on the net of a guy who inadvertantly left a bit in each hole (thought they had fallen on the floor). According to him major pain when he touched off the heavy hitter 45-70 loads. I can't imagine how that would feel but it does make me wince. Sean

DEPUTY450I forgot to add that I had tried a pre-fit decelerator that once installed was actually
to small. Maybe I could order a larger non pre-fit and just have it fit to the stock?
Have any of you guys seen the limb saver pads? Are they any good?
Thanks for the valuable info guys.

SoundmanI've got the limbsaver on both a 10 guage and an old 06 for length and I really like them!

jrslateGentlemen,
This topic has been discussed at length over at Marlin Talk. I will vouch for the effectiveness of the Limb-Saver from Sims Vibration Laboratories. I purchased the pre-fit model for the Marlin 444, and it fit nearly perfectly on my 1895G. I did have to plug and re-drill one hole.
The difference it makes is night and day...I believe they also are making a grind to fit model as well. It's worth taking a look at.

huntingcatThe Limb Saver took the pepper out of my .375 H&H. I used one of the prefitted pads Brownell's sells and it fits almost perfectly.
