Radom Polish Mauser WZ29 question
Just picked one up, has original barrel with receiver (not bolt) per markings. Is this a large ring with small ring thread barrel? I haven't been able to find that little bit of info in all my research. I know the older versions were, but I read these newer ones were 'strengthened' so I don't know? Already been bubbaed a bit, but not planning on making a magnum or anything out of it anyway, just curious. Nice, slick piece. Any information would be appreciated.
Best
Rick

I believe they are small ring, large thread.

Small ring diameter = 1.300

Large ring diameter = 1.410

Nope; the WZ29 is a standard 98 in every way; large thread, large ring. Only dif is the hand guard retainer and the riveted ejector spring. The WZ29 is among the best quality of Mausers, with the VZ24s; not variable in quality or metallurgy like the German ones are.
You guys are thinking of the WW1 98a, or az, small ring, large thread. The only Mauser variant marked K98, contrary to popular belief. Made at Radom and Warsaw plants.
I have two WZ29 actions for sale, should anyone want one.

Rivited ejector spring? I can't quite picture that.

Yes, send me your email and I will send you a picture of it. I have no pic host here any more.
The ejector spring has a round raised rivet head on the outside, unlike any other Mauser derivative.

Looks like someone filled in a giant dovetail with the brass insert. Originals have the Polish Eagle crest on them.

I do not know what the Browning safari looks like. As I said, I will email a picture of a Polish Ejector Spring to anyone. But I can't post here.
