Montana 1999 Mag box
I aquired a Winchester short action acra bond stock and adjusted the inletting for a Montana 1999 270 WSM. After everything was inletted to the proper depth I found that the magazine sheet metal box was about 1/8 inch too (deep)long towards the front of the box but the rear edges were ok. If installed as-is the trigger guard would protrude above the wood in the front. Would it hurt to remove the forward 1/8" from the lower edge of the box to make the action fit the stock? Do you think it would affect feeding or mag capacity?

Parry,
Our boxes are slightly longer than those offered by a stock Winchester. We did this especially on our Short Action to accomodate a huge influx of requests for a box that was at a minimum 3 1/8" length. Acrabond should have inletted it to handle the length of both the magazine box and the bottom metal. I would contact Rod or Larry at Acrabond and inform them of your quandry.

Sorry. I was not referring to the length but the depth of the box. Also this is an older Acrabond stock originally produced for a Winchester short action.

File the bottom off to fit.

Parry,
I agree, I don't believe that removing material from the bottom of the magazine box will affect it adversly. You were only talking about removing a small amount anyway. Worst case scenerio, we always have more boxes.
