drhall762Mauser G 33/40 action
I know little or nothing about the value of these actions. Can anyone give me a ball park price estimate?
I would describe it as a complete action. Bolt matches receiver for what that is worth. A few minor pits under the stock line. Rest looks pit free. Overall a pretty serviceable action. Not interested in re-militarizing it. Maybe a sporter of some kind.
Thanks,
Dave

dpcdWhat do they want for it? An action might be worth 500 to the right person; more to another, less to another. If I had a matching 33-40 action, I would put it back military and make several times what the action is worth. Make a sporter from it and you lose that. Yes, I have un-numbered original parts for them.

lindy2Buy it, add a couple hundred dollars to what you paid, and put it up for sale here. It might take awhile to sell, but it will sell. Then go out and get yourself a Kimber with all of the work done already.

MHC_TXI have a mint G33/40 action and I wouldn't sell it for $650. They are getting hard to find.

Should have said, the bottom metal is all there as is the trigger. Just missing everything else. I appreciate the offers for restoration parts. Depending if I can close this deal I may do it to sell it as a representative piece.

drhall762Well, maybe it would be worth restoring. Burn that bridge when I get to it. Gotta' see if the deal goes first.

airgun1G33/40's were always a little scarce. Back in the 1960's, 70's and 80's they were one of the best options for a lightweight custom. There are lots of better options available today.
When you take into consideration how scarce the G33/40's were in the first place, and then subtract how many were made into customs, it makes it a no brainer to restore one back to original if the parts are relatively available/reasonably priced.
Those G33/40 actions were bringing $600 when common, German made M98's were bringing $100 tops on a good day. The going price for G33/40 actions hasn't changed much through the years.
But, if you wanted to build a NICE custom sporter out of that G33/40 action that you have, no one would fault you. I wouldn't waste it on a common, run of the mill sporter though, I would recommend making a NICE one if you go that route.
