ScrollcutterPhoto's of Custom Model 70
Here are a couple of pictures of the rifle I made for my son's Christmas present last year.
Pre-war M70 Winchester .338 Win Mag. with wood moulded around the Lyman 48 peep sight.

GrandViewVery nice Roger.
And I envy those young eyes that can use it sans scope!

Dago RedHave you ever thought about adoption? :-) Great looking gun, nice setup, I'm sure it will serve him well.
Did you do any of your fancy scratching on it?

I was hoping the rifle would cover more than one Christmas. Probably not, huh?

Glen71Roger - VERY nice! That's an attractive stock. Is it your design? How about some more details?

Yes, the stock is my design. I wouldn't say that's a plus, but it is mine.
The dimensions are 13 3/4" length of pull, 7/8" drop at comb, 1 1/4" drop at heel, 1/4" castoff at heel and 3/8" cast off at toe. I think the forearm length is about 8 1/2".
The metal is rust blued except for the grip cap, sling swivels, bolt shroud and fixed piece of the Lyman sight. All of which are color case hardened.

CustomstoxRoger, that looks fantastic. I am doing one very similar for a fellow back east. Just finishing the checkering and waiting on an engraver to get his work done so I can rust blue it. I always blame that on you guys, lol. His also has a lyman open sight and I like the way you did yours better. He did not want a cheek piece so it looks a bit plainer. You have a great look on this one and your son looks very happy with it.
