MRAMSAY10Bedding experiment
Here is the situation gentlemen:
Winchester Model 70 30-06 synthetic
- The rifle is aluminum pillar bedded
- steel bedded from 1-1/2" behind the recoil lug to 1" in front.
- In front of the recoil lug bedding 3" of concrete filler/sealant (caulking on steroids) filling the void in the stock and contacting the barrel.
Potential Result:
The Conrete filler/sealer will provide a harmonic damper for the barrel.
I will take it shooting this weekend once it is totally cured and give you the results.

RayGunterI hope that you shot it after the steel bed but before the concrete filler. So we could get a before/after result.

Nomo4meConcrete filler? NOTHING accurizes a rifle like a premium sub-flooring adhesive. A quick search would have revealed that.

MRAMSAY10Well guys, it's been 3 days and the stuff still is not dry. This could be one of those "what not to do" experiments, but it's worth a shot, right?

Dammit, 10! You should know by reading my "Mixin' powders..." thread over in Reloading that any experimentation is strictly
verboten by the old-timers and high-posters in these pages. You start that crazy experimentin' stuff, and you'll get what you ask for. Just warnin' you now-- before the carpet-bombing starts...
