Paul from nzdoes this rifle need bedding?
Hello there!
I was wondering what you all think about this.
when i take the action screws out of my rifle, the action can 'spin' in the stock, the only thing from stopping it from spinning more is when the trigger eventually makes contact with the stock, i guess if it wasnt there the recoil lug would make contact with the stock if it spun some more.
do you think it would benefit from bedding the recoil lug?

hivelosityThe metal should fit nice into the wood with no movement. the trigger should not contact the stok at all.
I would bed the action if it were mine.

Toomany ToolsThe answer to you question lies almost solely in how well the rifle shoots. If accuracy meets your requirements then it does not need bedding. The only other reason would be whether or not there's a chance of damaging the stock due to poor fit in the stock, e.g. cracking the stock.
The fact your action can spin in the stock is irrelevant, unless of course you plan to fire it with the action screws removed
