Lapped my scope rings is there any tape that i could put on to prevent slipping of scope or maring the finish of scope tube.

I use rubber electrical tape.
It's in the electrical supplies at Home Depot, etc.

It's different than normal electrical tape, in that it's acutally made from rubber rather than plastic.

When you put it in the rings and compress it, it flows like a viscous fluid.

The trick is to cut a piece about 3 milimeters wide, and only a little more than half-way around the inside of the hemisphere of each (split) scope ring.
When you tighten the system up, it will flow into the empty space.

I have long used the Teflon tape commonly used to seal pipe joints. It squishes nicely. Electrical tape is too thick sometimes, with close tolerance rings like Talleys. The Teflon tape has always worked though - just wish it was black, although 1/2" rarely sticks out from under the rings.
