Need recomendations for a brake for my 700PSS in 300RUM. It will be fired off a bench or prone over grass and gravel. Not worried about niose as it will be fired alongside 50BMG rifles. Bullets are 200 to 240 grain SMK's. I am looking for maximum braking effect, mainly to keep my sight picture.

My recommendation is to go with a Vais muzzlebreak. They are the best in my opinion. I have one on my .300 RUM and I love it.

He designed and makes one of the most effective MB's out there. It's a 2 Stage can style, all stainless steel construction (can be had in a matt black finish also)

I also have a Vais brake on my 300 RUM and think it is great. But for maximum braking performance and shooting over dirt you might look at the Holland Quick Discharge Brake as it doesn't have any holes on the bottom to kick up dirt and dust as the Vais will.

Try Muzzlebrake.com. Kevin Knight has put his slimline brakes on 2 of my rifles (300 SAUM, 338 RUM), and 5 different friends rifles. The craftmanship is outstanding with matching the contour and color of the barrel, and the braking is awesome.
I can shoot the 338 RUM pushing 300SMK out of a Remington 700 LSS at the bench and it does not hurt at all. Cannot say enough good things about them.

Try a Gentry or a Tony`s Powderhorn T-Brake. Both direct the gas`s forward away from the shooter.
