1909 Argentine rough value

Hi All,

wondering what a rough value may be for a 1909 Argentine complete rifle; matching serial numbers on receiver and barrel. All original, no pitting, no rust. Absolutely pristine condition.

Just heard a price paid for such a 1909 today by a shooting buddy. Want to say he'd paid over $500 for his, but not sure.

I've seen "unissued" DWM specimens for sale at $2000 a piece. Griffin and Howe has two for sale at that price. I wouldn't pay more than $600 for a perfect one, as I would only be interested in the action. Collectors can become irrational when they really want something though.

All matching M1909's are not all that rare. They are like all matching Swede's, there are plenty of them around as they didn't see battle for the most part. Finding one with the matching cleaning rod is quite a bit tougher, but that is almost an accessory.

M1909 Argentines originally had yhe receiver polished, not blued.

20-30 years ago pristine M1909's were $195.00, clean guns should bring a minimum of $300, more for matching and way more for minty and matching, definitely over $1,000.00.

Engineer and Cavalry carbines bring much more in any condition.

thanks all. this one is polished not blued. it has the stamping on the left side of the receiver and the argie crest on the top of the front receiver ring as it has not been drilled.

The left side of receivers all had Modelo 1909

The writing on the left rail is preferrably the Berlin address, not the DGFM AFGP or similar to that. They all originally had the crest some were scrubbed off and sent to other countries.

btw, what do folks do with the military stock and barrel if they buy one just for the action??

In the early 70s Sarco had them new in the crate with test target for $90. Once you destroy the rifle for a sporter, you can put the stock and bands and barrel on ebaa and a collector will buy it to reverse what you just did to one. I would look for one that has already been messed with.
