SlowHandIroning dents
I read a post a while back on ironing dents out of wooden stocks with a hot iron and a wet towel. Does this work? I have tiny nicks in a wooden stock I would like to take out. Would this work on a gloss finished stock? Thanks!

CustomstoxIt does work. You have to get the finish off so the steam can go into the wood. It will not work on wood where the fibers are torn, only on dents where the wood is compressed.
I have a small iron that you buy from the hobby shop, I used it for rc plane's and found it worked on raising dent's as well.
Depends on how small the nicks are, but for little ones put a drop of water in the nick, wait a couple minutes and then put the tip of a soldering iron in the drop. If you have a finish on it you'll probably need to poke it with a pin several times to make some places for the water to penetrate.
