It is alleged that the mod 70 trigger is as close to perfect as you can get. How low can you safely go in a mod 70.

All my big game rifles are pre 64s, 14.25in LOP and all 2.75lbs pull.

Can you safely take the pull to 2lbs? Just curious.

There are two types of people in the world: those that get things done and those who make excuses. There are no others.

I hope somebody will correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to me that on the Winchester trigger the pull weight is controlled independently of the sear engagement by means of a separate spring. Therefore I think the issue of safety has more to do with the amount of sear engagement, and even more to do with whether the engagement is at the proper angle.

By changing the spring to a lighter one a 2 lb weight is possible.

Always do drop and slam tests on any firearm.
