<mike357>checkering fixture part two
a few weeks ago i asked about a checkering fixture to do 1911 frontstrap checkering on a mill,or blueprints to build one.
well, here's an update. i built one of my own design. and it works. i successfully checkered the fronstap on my kimber with a 30 lpi pattern. i used my fixture, a .250 diameter 60 deg.inserted solid carbide threading bar and bridgeport mill and came out with a nice looking checkering job, it looks just like what i would have gotten from the kimber factory. just so ill have a witness i'll being showing the frame and fixture to craftsman in the next few days and he'll be able to "critique" my work. its not as good as what he could do with a file, but he is an artist.i'm just a wannabe.

MarkMike,
Well congratulations on just going out and doing it! That is the important first step! I'd love to see it too, can you post a pic sometime?
