springfield 03a3 wont feed last round.
I've got a Remington 1903a3 springfield 30.06. It holds 5 rounds and feeds the first 4 smooth as butter. The last round won't feed at all. It jams up tight against the right side rail after only moving about 1/2 inch forward. The tip is not hanging on the ramp and it appears theat the cartridge is hanging at the shoulder. Any ideas? Could the follower be wrong.
Thanks,
Weagle

That's what I would do, try a different follower...

While working on my '03 Springfield Express in .30-06 many years back, I overzealously honed the follower flat on my trusty Arkansas sharpening stone- sure looked great! Created a double feed with 4th and 5th round or throwing the 5th out of the mag all together. I swapped followers and the thing gobbles shells as it should... I'm still working on that damn gun... Another one that needs a stock

Make sure your mazazine box is not in a bind with the stock. Stock pressure applied to the side of the magazine can and will cause the last round to bind. Found this out the hard (normal) way when I put a M-17 Enfield into a fiberglass stock. Only required removing a little fiberglass from the side of the magazine well in the stock to correct the problem.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try both and see if it works. I guess worst case is I have a 4 shooter which would be fine with me except that I hate when something isn't right.
Good shooting,
