724wdaluminum trigger guards
ok fellas, i know they're cheap, but who's used the aluminum trigger guard with the cast antelope from sporter express and the like? i know it's no sunny hill or some such, but is it a functional piece? i'm thinkin' a guy could make a new floorplate to get rid of the antelope, if he so desired... i am putting together an inexpensive gun and not looking to spend more for a triggerguard than i have in the whole gun.
also, i am going to buy (pending inspection under the woodline for rust) a belgium FN mauser and it looks like it wears an original aluminum trigger guard (sans antelope) and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them? it's an 06 with a beat factory stock, but the parts look worth the $300 price.

airgun1Those used to be made by Williams Gunsight Co. They did the job very economically, and were 30-06 length for 98's and Springfields. They were like $65.00 for the hinged assembly or $20.00 for the floorplate. They were not very heavy duty, but did fit and work.
ETA: I have owned FN's with factory aluminum bottom metal and they were a bit more rugged than the one mentioned above, but still aluminum.
