A few years ago I made contact with the BRNO factory in the Czech Republic about buying a barreled action. I did this for a friend. They gave me a distributors name and I set it all up. My friend had an amazing rifle built from it, but he did not keep any of the paperwork about where he bought the rifle. I know this was a different manufacturer than CZ, but still Czech. The action was old school 98. It was totally new, but had a trigger similar to a model 70. The action still had a thumb cut for stripper clips and a standard wing safety of the past. He got it barreled in a 7x64mm.

Does anyone know how to contact them now? I keep looking and come up with CZ, but they are not the same?

Supposidly there is a guy in Pahrump Nevada that is the distributor for these. I tried calling once on a Saturday and didn't have any luck. I know absolutely nothing about them but try giving these guys a call:

I am in San Diego right now, I will call and run this down. If they were open on Saturday I could have run out there.

Euro-Imports in El Cajon was an importer for these rifles some years back.

I imported one a few years ago from Franconia, which the German distributor.

Quality is on par with the CZ550, except that you are getting a true 98 action.

EAA in Florida used to import some of their rejects, with a bead-blasted finish and a plastic stock.

The Mauser actions they use are VZ-24s. A good friend of mine just had one of their single shot 30-06s made. He imported it himself directly from Brno, using the BATF Form 6, no need to go through an importer/distributor.

Tell me about that, I haven't got a real straight story on that. I found a ZG in Canada last year and it fell through cause I couldn't figure out how to get it imported.

I was told a importer had to handle the form 6. Anyway fill us in on the details.

An FFL holder has to recieve the rifle, and needs to be listed on the Form 6. He does not need to have an import license, he just needs to have an FFL and be listed on the Form.

The form is easy to fill out, and takes a couple of months to get approved. You then send the approved form to the seller, who will include it with the rifle when he ships it. When the rifle goes thru customs, they check the form 6 and then forward the rifle to the FFL. Then you pick it up and fill out the standard purchase paperwork.

This just might be what I have been looking for. Are they actually duplicates of the VZ-24? I recently handled a fine rifle built on one of those actions.

They use old stock VZ-24 actions.

They are VZ-24's. My guess is that the Brno factory still has lots of actions lying about. They are giving them the standard sporterizing (surface grind, polish, bent bolt, d&t, etc.) along with a rich, deep hot blue.

The one I had was a full stock 9.3x62. The metal was very nice, but the iron sights were economy type. The wood was plain as well. It made for a good working rifle.

Thanks a lot do you call the BATF for the form 6?

Now I just need pricing on some Europenean rifles, I have a couple I would consider ordering.

So it sounds like the actions are military left-overs that are being remanufactured? Or are they being made on the old tooling?

I got a hold of the factory in BRNO, Czech Rep, and they told me there are no current US dealers handling thier product. You have to fill out the BATF forms with an FFL and import them.
