Excessive Headspace
Made the mistake of checking headspace on my ZG47 in 30-06. Not exactly sure of the guages used but there were 2 and it shut on both.

The rifle is from 1957 and has a very worn barrel which is still accurate. I've shot about 1,000 rounds through it with new cases, fired cases that have been full length sized enough to allow the bolt to just shut or necksized. During this time I've not had a separation or signs of seperation.

A couple of questions:-

1. Any safety issues as is?

2. Any reason not to use the action for rebarreling when the accuracy finally becomes too finicky in the current barrel?

By loading the way you describe you have eliminated the headspace problem. If the bolt will just close, then you have minimum headspace with that particular combination of chamber and cartridge.

Rebarreling will correct any existing problem, if done properly.

You're to late. The kiddies screamed themselves senseless and were sent to bed.

When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years!
