New Project completed
This is a few pictures of a rifle I jus completed for a gentleman from North Carolina. It is based on a pre-'64 model 70 and is in .30-'06 caliber with englis walnut stock and inletted skelton grip and buttplate. The engraving was doen by Gene Plante of White Bear Lake, MN. Enjoy, even with the mediocre quality photos.

Gorgeous work, I love the grip on that stock.

Is the heel higher than the nose?

Once again Jim, very, very nice work....Some day!

One question, I've never held a rifle that had a skeletonozed butt or grip. Does the metal work sit further out than the checkering? Just wondering how one keeps the checkering from getting all smashed up on a working gun.

only 2 things he got wrong. i am from south carolina, and the stock is turkish walnut. but, i am mighty happy with the way everything turned out. it was exactly what i had imagined and wanted. mr, kobe is truly a very talented gunsmith, and is a real pleasure to do business with.

What a beautiful stock. the wood is flat-out pretty, the lines are classic and graceful. the checkering is ideal to me.

the only thing I would change would be to add a classic red buttpad, but that's a matter of preference.

Rather than being afraid to hunt with it, I think it would be a fulfillment to hunt with it.
