lastofthebreedRecheckering a gunstock
I am posting this question for a friend who does not have access to the internet.
He has a pre '64 model 70 winchester he picked up at a gun show several years ago. Somebody, along the way, had it restocked in a very nice piece of walnut. The rub is, the checkering done on the stock is not very good.
Can anyone on this forum suggest a smith that would be willing to take a look at the stock and maybe re-do the checkering or perhaps the entire stock?
Thanks

Jim KobeIf there is enough wood on the outside, enough to remove the existing checkering, it would not be a problem but I would redo the entire stock finish and shaping and then checker it.
