Aftermarket Rem 700 Triggers under $100
I was talking with a local gunsmith the other day when the subject of adjusting REM 700 triggers came up. We both agreed the latest REM 700 factory triggers are becoming tougher to adjust- too much sealant to pick off, rougher threads and having to go to spring kits to reach 3.0lbs or less were some of the drawbacks. The only aftermarket trigger this gunsmith will recommend is the highly praised Jewel trigger. I've installed and owned Timney triggers and found them to be adequate, at least you could adjust em fairly easy. Good price too.($61.00) I was wondering how the competition stacked up: Basix $91.00, Shilen $84.00, Canjar- price unknown and any other aftermarket REM 700 triggers under or around $100.00. Any input good or bad would be appreciated, just don't mention the best - the Jewel. I don't want to become too spoiled. Thanks, sure-shot

I've been putting timmy triggers in my rifle they seem to work just fine on hunting guns.

sure-shot,

I use Shilen on my bench guns and Riflebasix for others. The Shilen 2 oz. is spectacular and RifleBasix makes one for the Rem. 600 that is adjustable.

I've used both the Timney & Shilen. Both are great. The Timney has a wider shoe, the Shilen is borderline too skinny for a hunting rifle (to me at least). Either way, I think you'll be happy.

Neil Jones can do a trigger job on a factory Remington trigger that you won't be able to believe.....go to benchrest.com and check him out in the gunsmith section...he also makes some great in-line reloading dies.

i couldnt get the guy from sinclair to recomend the riflebasix over the shilen.he said if i wanted to try one he would sell it to me,but he would stick to the shilen or the jewel if money wasnt an object.the shilen is actually cheaper than the riflebasix but higher than the timney.i have factory rem. that are better than the timney, the shilen is real good on my ultra, but the jewel on my 308 VSSF is in another league.
