Savage 516 baffle assembly
I recently inherited a Savage 516 (serial number starts with "F").
Missing the baffle assembly on the bolt--no primary extraction.
Cannot seem to find a model specific part but wonder if any left hand baffle assembly from the 110 series would work. Anyone know?
Thanks.

Is this the baffle you seek?

The part is the horseshoe shaped piece that fits on the bolt forward of the bolt handle. It acts with the bolt handle to provide primary extraction. The action on the pistol is left handed.

OK, refer to this schematic and look at part 12b.

Then scroll down the parts list and you will find the part that was in the first link I sent you. If you have a SS pistol then go to the Savage page at the gunpartscorp website and scroll down to pistols. Then look for Model 516.

No question--that's the part. Only problem is that on the pages that actually show 12b in the ordering section it's out of stock.
Went through my Brownells catalog and found one a left handed one for one of the rifles and ordered it. We shall see.
Other ideas are welcome.

This one shows in-stock. Sometimes Gunpartscorp doesn't put them in order.

So much for my methodical search through the Gunpartscorp section on the 516. Thought I had gone through each one and found either not indicated or out of stock.
Would you be interested in a job as my research librarian? I could also use someone who can find things in my shop that I put down right in front of myself.
Seriously, thank you.
