Austin HunterRemington 600 Laminated Stock Replica
Hello,
I'm trying to recreate a factory laminated stock that Remington used on the 600s. I have one in 350 Remington mag with a laminated stock, but I want to leave the stock unaltered and do a copy that has a longer LOP and that is epoxy bedded with pillars.
I read that Remington used Birch and Walnut, but the Birch would yellow over time (I can testify to that). I was thinking of black walnut and maple.
Also, I did takeoffs on the width's of the laminated pieces and they appear to be .450" for the walnut and .330" for the birch. Can anyone else confirm this?
Thanks!!!!

dpcdBeen there, done that, got the t shirt, and am wearing the brown T shirt now. I only wear brown T shirts; I have 30 of them so I could go to the field for 30 days. Anyway, the Rem 600 stock was not made from Walnut and Birch or Maple.
They were made from laminated Walnut and BEECH, which is what I used.
Here is the one I did.

dpcdI think Austin missed this. This is exactly what he wants to do, as I read it.

Duane Wiebe (CG&R)No sure if this is 100% accurate, but was told Remington's laminates were frnished by Rutland Plywood.
Some years ago, I purchased a blank from Rutland for a big gun project..looked like Remington to me!
For a lamknate, I'd like to see walnut/walnut lams about 1/8" Mioght even be nice looking

dpcdYes, I heard the same thing.
The point here is, not to make anything better; it is to replicate that original 1964 Remington 600 ply. Walnut and Beech.
