Boyd's Stocks POC
Does anyone here actually, personally know anyone in Boyd's management team?
I have been trying for two years to get them to make the At One stock for a 1917 Enfield, and despite many phone calls and emails, all I can get is from low level sales people who continue to tell me, We do not have that listed in our catalog at this time; try back in a few months. Standard non-answer to placate the masses.
Never any kind of technical explanation at all; they CNC inlet all their stocks so it would not be a problem to do. I asked them what the minimum quantity I need to order; same answer; not cataloged.
Low demand? They make some pretty obscure stocks with far less demand than a 1917 Enfield. I told them that and got a long silence....followed by, It's not cataloged at this time....

I bought one for an ancient Remington 510, haven't yet summoned up the sand to cut it for a 511 magazine, instead made a single-shot adapter.

There isn't one. It is a internet forum where responses are based simply on word association, Boyds in this case.
Not responding specifically to your question about Boyds.

Hope this helps. Smiler

Will they produce one un-inletted?

I wanted to order a 91 Arg stock from them. Looking at the spacing they had listed for the trigger guard I knew there was an error. Called and worked my way to who ever is supposedly in charge and was told ""that's the information we have."

Might as well talk to a brick.

They said they won't produce one un inletted. Although they are all un inletted before they inlet them aren't they?
Doug; I understand; got it; internet forum. Freedom of writing. I said your response was good, and actually I thought you were suggesting that I get one made for a 22, and use that as a blank to inlet the bigger action myself; which I think is not a bad idea. So you inadvertently did contribute.
My Great Grandfather was also named Boyd; true.

I know that some AR member knows someone influential at Boyds; AR members are well connected.

I wish Makerspace machine shop had a duplicator but in NYC even if there was an interest it would be a nono.

Hey, I did buy an un-inlet stock from Boyds a number of years ago, so I checked the site and used the search function (didn't find it in the dropdown menus). There're still webpages for the Heritage Uninlet:

https://www.boydsgunstocks.com...et-stock-124321x81zz

and Classic, Classic Left hand, and Pro Varmint style stocks uninlet.

Still, it doesn't answer the initial question on finding somebody who knows one of the Boyd Brothers. I thought they posted here long ago as BoydBros, but I did a search and no joy.

FYI-Looks like it turned over recently:

Boyds Gunstocks Industries Inc, as of January 2nd this year (2020), is under the new ownership of Dustin Knutson and Rob Carstensen who have been with Boyds for a combined 24 years

I bought a completely finished, drop-in stock from Boyd's years ago. Not a bad value, but definitely NOT drop in.

Haven't found a true drop in stock yet, BTW. But the Accurate Innovations and Hogue were probably the closest. Just needed very minimal bedding on the bottom of the recoil lug area on both.

I have no issue with Boyds stocks; do not get me wrong. I have used many of them and they are as close do drop in as you can get.
I definitely do not need or want any plastic stocks. Only wood.
Uninletted stocks: Sure; but I want the AT ONE stock; they told me that the At One is not offered in either 1917, or not insetted. Of course, everyone I talked to has no real technical knowledge whatsoever. This is over a two year period since the At One was introduced. .
Still looking for someone who personally knows someone; I always find that that is the best way to get things done.

Write an old fashioned letter addresses to the president or CEO. If you get a stupid answer from some underling be prepared to repeat your letter until it gets to the head shed.

Maybe buy one for a smaller action/barrel and inlet it the rest of the way in your own shop, or somebody else's who has a CNC program.

Thought about doing that but I am trying to avoid inletting it myself. I could do it on my duplicator but that is still work. I want them to do it.

I want the Boyds At One stock factory inletted for a 1917 Enfield.
Thanks for the offer. I am trying to avoid doing it myself.
