THE CHIEF
Rem Fireing Pin Assembleys
Thinking of buying a fireing pin assembley to replace the J-lock system that came on my rem 700 varmit rifle in 204 Ruger. Question is the after market assembleys from Gre-Tan or Callahan effective and worth the cost?

Thanks in advance for advise and replies.

Chief.

I get mine from Brownell's. They are the Remington ones, factory OEM.

I've got a Callahan speed lock on a Remington LA Ti. Yea, I would say it was worth the $60 I dropped on it. 2 oz lighter, supposedly faster and dropped in without any fitting. It was hard to resist pimping it out and buying one of the anidized colored bolt shrouds, but in the end I went with plain aluminum. Wink

I have a Gre-Tan I bought from Brownell's and I like it. I think it's worth the $$$ just to get rid of the "J" Lock, and you get a better, untwisted, spring too.
