londonhunter6 PPC Bolt face
Quick question
I have a Cooper 22 in 6 PPC USA
I am planning for the future when this barrel is shot out
I am looking at either a 20 BR or 6 BR
Has anybody opened up a Cooper 22 Bolt face to a BR case dimension
Visually there is very little meat left but I am NO gunsmith ?
If I cannot do that what calibers would you guys suggest ?
The reason I am thinking of changing is because 6 PPC USA cases are getting more and more difficult to get hold of.
Thanks
My alternative is
6BR
20 BR
6 Dasher
BTW it is a light weight walk around foxing / coyote rifle weight 6 pounds so nothing heavy and max range 300 ish yards is all that is I need
I just like something thats very very accurate and I have 300 norma BR cases lying around.

butchlambertMy BR rifle is a 6ppc and I also shoot 30BR with it. I just rebate the rims slightly. It works great.

londonhunterHi Butch
I also shoot a 30 BR but struggling to get velocity out can you have a look at where I am going wrong ?
I have a rem 700 blue printed action glued to a MAK tube chassis
I have a 15 twist lilja barrel cut to 22 inch with a silencer
It is amulti shot and surprisingly feed very well
I neck up norma 6BR brass and neck turn them to 10 thousand thick on each side
I shoot 125 Nosler ballistic tip with H4198
initially I struggle to get the charge in until I had to increase neck tension to 0.004 with a 323 redding bush
at the moment I am hovering around 2890 2950 and cannot get over the 3000 mark
I have been in touch with Joe and rob rabinett both saying that 3050 is the node to go for
What should I try next ?

butchlambertI have a 17 twist Rock Creek barrel at 23". I use 118grn competition bullets from Bibs, Chism, and Cheeks. I have my best accuracy at about 2950. I am using a 1995 lot of 4198. I use around 34grns. I use Federal 205 or Winchester small rifle primers. As long as it shoots like it does I will not try a faster node.
