One of those days

Anyone else have one of those days where the obvious turns into a head scratcher? For me, it happens whe I got my barrel stripped and blasted for the park tank. When I dipped it in nothing happened, no black, no fizz, nada. I had about 5 min of thinking that my phosphate was bad before it finally dawned on me that the barrel was stainless.
