DKimLothar Walther M98 barrels?
Has anyone used these Mauser 98 pre threaded and chambered barrels from Lothar Walther?
Do they produce a variety of barrel grades? If so do you have an idea of what type of barrel the M98 barrels are?
Thank you for any information.

ZachTo the best of my knowledge the 98 barrels you speak of are the same as their others; very good. I have spoken to Woody a couple of times and will be buying one for my next project.

<Rusty>I can only echo the posts above. I have spent a lot of time just talking with Woody and I am very impressed with their setup! From the way they require the people to carry the barrel across the shop to the lapping machine that maps the bore before it laps it, their operation is first rate. I have two of their barrels. Quality at a resonable price.

D HumbargerExcellent barrels. The difference is that the countours very slightly from the contoured blanks & have 4 groove rifling. Quality is the same.

AtkinsonI don't even bother with other barrels anymore..I have had nothing but perfection from LW and they all shoot little tiny groups.

500grainsI have used LW's pre-threaded M98 barrels in 9.3 x 62 and they worked perfectly and are very accurate.

<Celt>Although I have never used a pre threaded barrel, I have used MANY Walther stainless barrels. All have been great!
Accuracy has been as good as any barrel on the planet. The inside and outside finish is the best I have ever seen.

TGetzenDoes anyone know if Woody can supply one of the $159 barrels with a SHORT chamber? My understanding is that those barrels are from Germany and are long chambered. But I would like to be able to buy one that is about .020" short.

D HumbargerTodd Probably not. No two reamers have exactly the same measurments. That is the reason LW makes their barrels deep chambered. No chance for misalignment just face of the barrel shoulder & face.
