skl1Double rifle on Stoeger?
Anybody done one?
Apparently the Uplanders use different frame sizes for the different gauges (per customer service). What's the right size for a .30-.30?
20 gauge? .410?
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Steve

vapodogI built a double rifle chambered to 30-30 on a 410 action from a brazilian gun.....
It seemed to be safe but I learned a lot doing it.....I reassembled the 410 and sold it. I still have the barrels....heavy as hell! warped badly and now rusting slowly.
I used monobloc on the chamber area 4140 and a front block as well..........IMO the receiver I used was totally adequate to the task as I fired it without any observable damage to anything at all.

skl1Vapo,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I was thinking of cutting the shotgun barrels at the monoblock line and re-using the existing monoblock.
I was also going to try to unsolder and re-use the rib. Did you try this? Could you tell if the rib was soldered or brazed?
Did the barrels get warped soldering the rib?
Thanks,
Steve

ron vellaSk,
Those ribs are furnace brazed and unless you have access to a furnace you will not get them off without twisting them all to hell. That's why I buy up every pair of junker, soft-soldered barrels, that I find at gun shows, just to pop the ribs off and save them for projects.

skl1Ron,
Thanks for the info. That's what I was afraid of. Any source of aftermarket rib?

I built my own monobloc and stepped springfield and Enfield 30-06 barrels t fit (one rt hand twist...one LH twist) and then attaqched a full length solid rib.....attaching the rib was the serious flaw.....I bowed the barrels badly so I have no advice except that IMO the 410 action of that Brazilian gun was sufficient for the 30-30 round.
