Is doing a trigger job on a late model New Haven
Model 70(375 h&h) something that is fairly simple or is it a gunsmith only type of thing? Mine needs to be a little lighter and my 'smith can't get to it for 3 weeks and I leave in 5 weeks.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Adjusting the pull weight is pretty simple; adjusting the over travel is easy but a little more involved.

Modifying one or altering sear engagement is strictly for a gunsmith who is familiar and qualified to work on one.

To lighten the pull you will see the screw with a spring and three nuts, one is a locknut for the over travel. The two together are the pull weight. Loosen the lock nut and then back off tension on the spring with the other nut. After you lock them back up be sure and try to slam fire the gun. I am not a coil cutter on a model 70.

I won't get into the over travel screw as it is a bit more involved and I will not do it out of memory.

Do what he said; M70 triggers are the simplest and best and easiest triggers to adjust ever made.
