Polishing Stone Questions
I am wanting to clean up some actions. I am not wanting to make them perfect or "ready to blue" I just want to cut down on the time a gunsmith will have to charge me to get them looking better. Mostly I want to remove the old bluing and any surface rust that may have started.

Any way I looked through some old posts and have found MSC Industrial supply. Now what do I do? What brand, size and grit do I need? What do I do when they arrive?

Thanks for any info, hints and opinions.

Wes

I just bought "Scale Removal" stones from Mcmaster 6x1/2x1/4 - 220,320,400,600. They were $3-4 ea.

MSC is a good source too.

Thank you! I have lost alot of my bookmarks on my last computer failure. Mauser Central was one and Sporter Express was another. Got'em both back now!

For what you are wanting to do, take em to a local place that has a blasting cabinet. You can either use beads or aluminum oxide.

Jack Belk recommended the "EDM" stones from MRC in the tutorial someone mentioned above. They are hard as woodpecker lips and really maintain their flatness.

I like the moldmaker stones in 1/4 X 1/2 X 6". MSC should sell them as well as J&L and Gesswein.
