And there is my Son's Early 77 Ruger that with the help of Steve Ricciardeli? spelling Helped me to get my Son's factory barreled 6m/m Remington shooting into the 3's and I ain't talkin' inches. I guess they are all different, but free floating is the way we do it here.

Actually, another approach is to "neutral bed" a light barrel... ie, bed it full length with no upward prssure. If I were going to bed a barrel this is way I'd do it. Personally, I won't own a rifle that needs upward pressure on the barrel, light barrel or no.
