ceg1963Restocking a Remington LV SF
Hello all,
I just purchased a factory stock M700 Remington Rifle in the LV SF, chambered in the .17 Remington.
Problem: IMHO, the stock looks goofy and it appears to be weak.
What aftermarket stock do you use to replace it? Naturally, it is on a short action. It looks to be in the ADL configuration (blind magazine well).
Does the medium contoured barrel fit in an HS Precision Sporter stock? Or a McMillan Classic?
Any experience with this weapon would be greatly appreciated.

jb747Probably not as 'goofy' a stock as you might think. It's pillar bedded, and from sanding out the contact points I think it's same material used in construction of the HS Precision, but without the bedding block. It's not tupperware anyway. The flat forearm is very good off bags.
We have two LVSFs. Mine is staying standard, but I'm converting my wife's to a BDL. She'll be using a HS Precision sporter stock (with a factory reduced length of pull). I've already got the stainless lower metalwork waiting, just need the stock to turn up.
It will be a straightforward drop in. I tried with another HS I have on hand, and it was if it was made for it.

ceg1963Thanks JB747,
You are right, the thing was a "drop in" fit into a HS Sporter. It is now soaking in glass. It looks a bit more solid now.
Thanks a bunch.

Allan DeGrootUnless I'm mistaken the LVSF barrel profile is the same as a Remington Magnum barrel rather than the "Medium sporter"
profile.
So being a short action if you really wanted to restock it the barreled action would fit the same stock as an SAUM or WSM chambered rifle.
