rgg_7Great grain flow. color, lines. Very impressive stock.
Couple of questions.....what are you using for a stock finish? What are you using to fill the checks I see on both sides...I understand that this is rather common in feather crotch wood. Just curious.

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

500grainsBeautiful! Can you tell us about the gun?

MKane160Awww, come on, Chic....you know custom guns aren't supposed to shoot. They're just for lookin' at...
Awesome piece of wood, Bill. Please be sure and post the "after" photos...

brayhavenBeautiful! I've always loved straight grips. Even built one for my model 12 skeet gun. Looks like the grain might be a little perpendicular to the wrist. Did you do anything to reinforce it in that area? When I have one that's questionable, I drill it and epoxy a (hidden) piece of 3/8" fiberglass ramrod through the wrist. I sleep better

. Some woods are worse about cracking than others. English seems toughest and Claro is the worst.

Bill SovernsRgg_7 using Daly's SeaFin for finish. Larger checks I fill with matching wood chips and epoxy. Smaller ones will get filled with either finish or more epoxy.
Marc - got the buttplate from Customstox many moons ago.
500 - its an LC Smith. 12 gauge, 32" barrels.
Customstox - yeah I shot the heck out of that peice of paper.

brayhaven - That particular piece of wood is incredibly hard. The pores are almost non existant (very very tiny). I didnt feel it needed any reinforcing.
Yes,yes, that is a beautiful piece of wood, and it is hard for sure.maybe its just the way the photo is taken, but it seems to have a real long pull on it,what it is,if i may ask? If so,thihs must be a real long armed person. van

Beautiful.
That is just beautiful. I love the straight grip. It looks fast. The only problem I see is if it were in my hands I'm sure I would feel under dressed. HA!

CouchTaterHideous. I think I have some 1 by birch laying around that you could laminate up that wouldn't have all those defective grain lines in it. I'll do a 1 fer 1 swap if you cover the shipping.

The English grip looks about ten million times better on a shotgun than a pistol grip.
