need advice on twist rate for a 300 Weatherby
I'm getting ready to put together a custom build in 300 Weatherby Magnum. What is the recommended twist rate for a custom barrel in 300 Weatherby??? It will be chambered with NO freebore and I plan to shoot 180-200 grain bullets. Remington offers the 300 Win & 300 RUM with a in 1-10 twist and the 300 Weatherby in a 1-12. Anyone know why?? Thanks, 163bc

If you plan to use the heavier bullets (180 -220) predominantly get a 1:10.
If you plan to use a 150 to 165 almost exclusively get a 1:12.

You can shoot 150 to 220 out of either and expect reasonable accuracy, but in general heavier bullests(longer) faster twist, lighter (shorter) bullets slower twist.

The 300WBY made its speed claims when it came out with 150s.
