Rebore a 375h&h to 416 rem mag or rechamber 416 R to Weatherby
I love the Magnum Ruger Rifle except I dont like the calibers.I dont want to have 4 different kinds of brass to get.I want to either rebore a 375 H&H to 416 rem mag or rechamber a 416 Rigby to 416 Weatherby.I was wondering what the cost on reboring these days and how good it was.The 416 Rigby to weatherby would just put a belt on the chamber.I lave lots of 416 rem mag brass and lots of 416 weatherby brass .I have 3 416 rem mag rifles but no 416 weatherby.I use the 416 weatherby to make 338-378 brass because I get it cheap.I was wondering the cost of doing so and if its worth the trouble.I do want a 416 rem mag ruger and a 416 weatherby ruger. It would be cool to have a pait.I know the 416 rem mag would feed but would the 416 weatherby fit.

Personally, I would save "reboring" for those odd, or, rare barrels that would otherwise be quite expensive to copy or recreate. If you are unhappy with the 375 H&H and not interested in the Ackley version of it, then I would stick a new barrel on the Ruger and go with the 416 Rem Mag, or, 450 Ackley Mag, or, 475 Ackley mag, or... They all use the same brass.

malm, if I remember right, the Ruger magnums or it may be the safari guns have an integral quarter rib. If so, they would qualify as one of the hard to replace variety.

Absolutely, if that's the one, then that would be a variety like that which I was referring to.

It would be easy to take teh .375 H&H up to a .400 H&H as well. Dan Pederson does boring as well.

A friend is having a rifle done (a Mannlicher of some flavor I recall). I know other folks who have used him too.

Danny Pedersen gets $265 for a rebore/rechamber. You won't get a custom barrel installed for near that! Plus, his rebores shoot like a house afire. If I sound like a satisfied customer, it is because I am. thumb

Good hunting,

Andy
