I have an H-S Precision stock that I'd like the LOP shortened about an inch. This rifle will be primarily used by a female. I'd like to add a decelerator pad on it.

Is this hard to do? Any smiths out there volunteer for this task? Let me know.

This should be an easy job for you to do if so inclined, the hardest part is grinding the pad to shape but if you take precautions and go slow you'll do fine if you have a belt or disk sander.

Otherwise I'm sure some people will start answering soon with prices for you.

Well, I do not do gunsmith work at all, and I'm not going to start. I'll leave that to those who do it regularly. Plus, this rifle will probably be a gift, so I want it done professionally where it looks nice.

I have 2 HS precision stocks and it appears like they are glued on. To what I do not know. They may have a block inside the shell that it is attached to. You might go to the source and ask them.

They are glued to the shell and foam core.

Mark the stock where you wish to make the cut and then wrap masking tape around the good side of the stock. Using a miter saw and a sharp multi-tooth carbide blade, make the cut and then square it with a disc sander.

Hollow out the foam core to fit a wooden block approximately 3/4 inch thick. Epoxy the wooden block in place so that it is connected to the shell. Don't just glue it to the foam. Mark the block and drill it for the screws and fit the pad in the normal fashion.

Almost forgot. When I fit a rifle stock to a female, unless she is built like a linebacker, I usually bring the toe angle a little forward so it fits in the pocket of their shoulders a little better.

Any decent-quality gunsmith can do it for you Doc but you can also send it back to the factory.

I'd volunteer but but I'm in the indecent category. I always ending up needing a new paint job.
