BloodnativQuestion on rebarreling a Weatherby.
I have a Weatherby Vanguard that I am thinking about rebarreling to 416 Taylor. My question is concerning the threads on the Vanguard. Will a pre-threaded barrel with Mauser threads fit or does the Vanguard have different threads?

Clio Gun ShopThe Receiver thread on a Weatherby Vanguard is
26x1.5mm metric. A large ring Mauser thread is
1.1x12tpi. Not even close. Regards Jerry

BloodnativThanks. I'll just get a 'smith to cut the threads and barrel it. If it were standard Mauser threads I could do it. I have done a couple of Mausers and it's pretty easy. I appreciate the info.

vapodogyou might have trouble finding a lathe that turns metric threads

D HumbargerVanguards have metric threads. The same as the Jap Arisaka! Bastard metric threads at that !

I cut them quite frequently. Just have to remember not to disengage the half nut until you're finished cutting the threads to full depth!!!

JudsonOn my lathe cutting metric threads is no problem, that is as long as you remember to change the gears!!! Also it is best to change them back when done or else the next Mauser threads you cut will come out, well, shall we say sort of different!!!!

BloodnativMaybe I'll just scratch the whole idea and get a CZ 550 in 416 Rigby. Same performance and would come out cheaper by my calculations. Besides, if I use my Vanguard I'll just have to buy another 300 WBY to replace it. I'm bored and need a project.
