PedestalNice little .257 Roberts
Don't know how to post photos, but here's a link to some pictures of my latest project. Turned out pretty nice, I think. Specs are: 1909 Argy action, bbl and stock from Midway. 'Glass/pillar bedded, bbl free floated, then bedded in silicone rubber. Winchester style side swing safety, bolt handle(cover), grip cap, buttplate are horn. Bottom metal is an aluminum unit from Brownells. Pachmeyer flush sling swivels-haven't put a sling on it yet. Glass is a Burris 1.75x5, in Conetrol rings/mounts. Oil finish on the stock. After it really cures, I'll get some checkering done. Weighs about 6.75lbs. Shoots pretty good. Only made one trip to the range so far, doing barrel break-in, etc. Shot most everything -including a few handloads I threw together- into 1", 1.5", but it REALLY liked Federal Premium 120gr Noslers.

Curtis_LemayYup, that sure is a nice little Mauser you got there. so what are you going to shoot with it besides paper, deer or pdogs?

Bubba JohnThe Roberts is deadly on Texas whitetail. I have a .257 I recently punched out to .257 AI but haven't put a box of ammo through it yet. A neighbor has an Ackley that his nine year old grand daughter killed a nice six point with this last fall. I also have a 6.5X.257 that shoots very well.

PedestalWhat bullet are you using in your .257AI?

<dennis hepner>pedestal,
i have two .257 ACKLEYS and use the 100gr.SIERRA spitzer exclusively. also try NORMA MRP if you can find some, it really wakes this cartridge up.

PedestalThanks for the tip: the "edit" thing didn't work, but I think I understand how. I'll try an experiment:
Hey, I think it worked! That's the Fed Prem load..
