Super Bon BonI think I'd pick the 8x57 with a nice 23 inch octagon barrel, open sights. just a bit of engraving- not sure if I'd want the casehardening, though.

N. GarrettWoodjack,
I am building a fine single-shot also.
I decided on the 7X75R Super Express vom Hofe.
It's rimmed, and duplicates 7mm Rem Magnum ballistics.
Brass can either be purchased from Huntingtons, or made by running 9.3X74 brass through the dies.

hit-emI'm having one buildt as we speak
Hopefully will have it by Jan or Feb of 06.
I decided to go with a classic 300 H&H, after talking with Ralf I liked his idea that a single shot should be capable of putting an animal down with one shot. The 300 H&H is an extremely efficient cartridge & will meet all of my needs in regards to my hunting...Whitetail.Muledeer & Elk.
I upgraded the wood to a "Wild" piece of Turkish. I'm letting Adolf build me a "Classic" rifle to my specs..no engraving or bling-bling.
Outside of the upgraded wood & case color harndening it'll have the open sights & be set up for Talley Rings.
Can't wait to get my hands on this baby !!!!

GeorgeSWhile a .375H&H Flanged might make more sense, I'd want it in .450-.400 Nitro Express 3.25" (and I'd buy 500 cases and 1000 bullets to have a lifetime supply!).

oldunA 303 British would be interesting, but I would plump for a 7x57

WoodjackHit-em,
a .300H&Hagn would make afine English style stalking rifle,I have considered the idea for some time. Speaking with Ralf at SCI, he likes the idea of the .300H&H as well.
fla3006,
do you know the barrel length of the little gem the lads are holding?
oldun,
I must admit a Hagn7x57,300H*H is a hand in glove combination! and if you long throat the little lady 7x57 in a26"tube,for 160s' to be seated at the base of the neck, she certainly would be no slouch ballistically or in the field.
