Blackbart2Winchester Model 70 Rear Bridge Radius?
All:
Was looking for the spec for the rear bridge radius on a Winchester Model 70. Anyone know that off-hand?
I have a rear scope base for a Model 70 that I need to lower a bit to make it parallel to the front and want to get the radius correct, or at least pretty close...

Thanks,
Bob

speerchucker30x378If memory serves the front is 1.290 and the rear is 2.692.
As for the water table, the rear bridge is .145 inch lower than the front.
When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years!

You have an amazing memory; better than mine, but for your front radius, using the formula; Pie are Round (Cornbread are Square), the radius of the front ring would be .645. Or thereabouts.

You are mistaking me with someone who has the actual ambition required to divide the diameter by two dpcd.
And as far as 3.14159, Pi Day, was Monday and you missed it. Worse yet, it's never going to come again. Now your grandkids will be sitting on your lap and asking: "what was Pi Day like Grandpa?" And you're going to have to hang your head in shame and say: "kids, yer Grandpa missed it." And from that day on, the kids will refer to you as: "The kinda funny Grandpa, what was tetched-by-dee-lawd a little bit!"

Damn, I missed it, again. I remember, way back in Jr HIgh, they were talking about; "Pie are square". I knew that was nonsense and paid no more attention to the math teacher. Everyone knows that Pie are round.

That's funny. On my Model 70, I had to shave the front base (Talley) to make it parallel.
