N4652EThat is clearly very well done checkering. The tops are all very even and straight.
I guess I do that 3 panel pattern differently (backasswards??) I roughly lay out a one panel over the top pattern with one set of common master lines for the top and both sides. Then I use narrow stripping tape to lay out the border separating the top from the sides. I cut the lines, skipping the area under the tape. This way, the lines continue from the top to each side, and the diamond tops all lay in a row. (Or they do if I have kept my lines straight and even.)
The challange is to make both sides symetric, I think it adds to the appearance and is appreciated those who have tried to master this task. Just a different style, with a bit more time to lay out, but no more complex to cut.

CustomstoxBill,
I lay out mine the same way and use a skip line tool to space them.

CustomstoxBill,
Give these guys a treat and post a pic of the skeleton grip cap. You do a nice job with them.
