What is the .300 Montana?
Just acquired a Rem 700 PSS DM, marked .300 Win mag. I was told that it has been rechambered to .300 Montana. It will accept a 300 Wby. mag and also a .308 Baer case. Any ideas? I can do a chamber cast if needed. (Rifle was a good deal).
Thanks, Jay.

Jay,
I would have been interested to see what kind of performance you got out of that if not told it was rechambered! Actually I fired a 300 win mag out of a Weatherby once and it fire formed perfectly. Of course the already short neck of the 300 Win was really short now.( I did this on purpose by the way) Assuming the base of the case is std magnum size just shoot a 300H&H through it. Who did the rechambering?
I was at the spokane gunshow a couple of weeks back and kind of half expected to see you there hunting bargains. There were a couple of 721s at reasonable action prices but nothing to make me grab for my wallet. Regards, Bill.
