500grainsWhat is the best mauser on which to build a magnum custom rifle?
Please consider both commercial and milsurp possibilities. The intention is for a SAFE, clean, slick, high quality rifle.
Thanks.

NitromanAny of them. The Brits never had a problem. Seems the problems are all in everyones minds. Any questions regarding safety just send it to Blanchards after the machining. They'll make it any reasonable Rc you want. Mine was turned to Rc42.
If I ever get this damned stock fixed I will put it together and post a pic with all the particulars.
You have that .470 Capstick, that is about as intense as they get yes?
If the Brits can pull off the .505 Gibbs there isn't anything to worry about.

weagleI think I would just buy a CZ550 American. It would probably cost a couple grand to build a custom piece that was superior to the CZ.
Good shooting,

AtkinsonDepends on what size magnum, knowing you I'd think the new Montana PH would be the ticket as a magnum to you is a 5555-10.5" whatchamalcallit...
For a 416 Rem, 404 or 375 a good Mauser or Win pre 64, or better yet perhaps the new 1999 Montana action...But a good Vz-24, Chilean, Puruvian, or Comm. Brno sounds pretty good.
