The bottom metal is different between the model 7 and 660. The last 660 I stocked I used a model 7 stock and it worked fine except I had to modify the bottom inleting. the short 700 is longer.

I have a 600 mohawk in a model 7 stock. The tang hole is .093 further back on the Model 7. I drilled and tapped the rear tang and put the rifle back into service. The original 600 Mohawk stocks are getting quite scarce. The barreled action can still be put back into a Mohawk stock if ever one comes along. I beleive I changed the trigger to a 700 and did use the Model 7 bottem metal.
