Alberta CanuckNW U.S. Garand Mechanic?
My CMP Garand has evil timing.
Anyone know of a first quality Garand mechanic in the Pacific NW of U.S. who they'd care to recommend to cure its ills?

meplatContact Don Manning at Shooters Supply, 1120 Tieton Dr., Yakima, Washington (509) 452-1181.
Manning is a long-time service rifle competitor. At one time he was the only person the gas gun guys of this area would allow to work on their rifles. If he is no longer working on them, he will know who does.

PS: Check your op rod for straightness.

Alberta CanuckThanks, Meplat.
Op rod is straight. Matter of fact, it is straight AND new. That substitution greatly improved timing. Is still off, however.
Unlike my first CMP Garand (which cost me $128 direct from them), this one is a bucket of junk. The first one was a Winchester, as new, and all the parts that could be legitimately be stamped "NM" were..... Of course then, in the mid-80's, I didn't know what a jewel I had so it eventually went away in trade for something else. (I was used to as new M-1's...that's what I carried in the 546th Field Artillery, and then in the 25th Inf. Div. in the 50's too....)
Thanks again,
AC
