Rem 700 Long action bolt
Is it possible to get a new bolt head installed on a model 700 bolt?

Mine is milled down past the case head cutout in the front of the bolt face.

If replacing the head is not possible, who makes the best aftermarket bolts?

Thanks.

PTG makes one and two piece 700 bolts.

Thanks,
I was looking at those. At least I have fall back position.

The head is pinned & induction silver brazed on a 700 Remington bolt.

Purchase an UNMOLESTED 700 bolt on line or purchase one from Pacific Tool & Gauge in OR.

I have one of the PTG one piece bolts with a mini m16 extractor. I do not have any problems with the ejected cases hitting the scope which I hear is a problem with many of the extractor changes done on a M700 bolt. Bolt is very high quality. PTG will also size the bolt to fit your action at no additional charge. I am very satisfied with the PTG bolt.

Numrich often has Rem 700 bolts; I’ve purchased several from them over the years.

The PTG bolts are set up with the ejector drilled in a different location than a factory Remington, and they eject at a lower angle. Much better for large turret scopes.

I have an unmolested spare Remington 30-06 bolt in the parts bin. It was swapped for a PTG magnum bolt. PM if interested.
