I recently bought some repro pre 64 Win 70 parts from Wisner's. The parts are very finely crafted and held to very close tolerances. You can buy with confidence from Wisner's!

I finally got a bolt that headspaced on my beater 70 that I have been tinkering with. Well let me tell you that fixed ejector blade from Wisner's is something else! That baby shoots cases across the room like Rem 700 or post 64 M70 without cranking the bolt back hard.

This gun is the ultimate mixmaster. 1972 Win 70 Deluxe Magnum stock, altered post 64 floorplate, 1950 former Hornet receiver (drilled for a sidemount and highly polished and reblued), 1952 complete bolt, 1948 30-06 barrel cut to 20.5" topped with Williams Fire Sights. I also have Wisner's 30-06 follower in this. This is my foul weather deer/bear gun.

I can't tell you how much I enjoy reading a post by a fellow who obviously enjoys rifles as user-tools and not status fetishes. I think it reflects great credit on you to take your own patience, and miscellaneous used parts which might otherwise be cast in a corner, and produce something useful, sporting and rather practical.

My first "parts" Pre-64 and synthetic stocked rifle was built in 1985 and from castoffs. I had Jim Wisner make me a bolt body since the bolt handle was SERIOUSLY "bubba'd" and it was a work of art.

I bought various parts from Jim, drove the 3 hours from Vancouver, BC to his shop and will flatly state that Jim is, along with Duane Weibe, just about the most courteous, decent and hugely talented guy I have ever done gun business with.

The quality of his work/parts is beyond "good", IMHO and his safeties are my all-time favourites and I have all the others, except Gentrys. You cannot go wrong with Jim's products.

+1 for Jim's work, got some QR bases & rings from him, perfect match to orignal Kimbers I bought years ago

I've used Wisner's parts for about 20 years with perfect satisfaction in every single case. In fact in my experience his parts have been MUCH better than any would-be equivalent made by anyone else.

I too like to try to make something nice out of a pile of parts, in fact many if not most of my personal rifles (all are custom) are examples of put-togethers.

The price for Chapman Mauser safety is $20 and a Wisner Mauser safety is $30.80


The extra fitting and bluing needed for the Chapman make the Wisner a real bargain at $10.80 extra.

The quality of his gunsmithing is excellent also. Jim repaired the broken bolt of a LH 788 for me better than new.

I agree with all the above, great quality products & service, very reasonable prices, and a very knowledgeable gunsmith/machinist. I've bought his floorplates, safeties, Ruger forend estacions, M70 & Mauser parts.

You would be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable gunsmith. Jim is sharp as a tack and takes pride in what he does. His work speaks for itself.

Absolutely

I bought their spring installation tool for Miroku O/U's. I thought it was a little pricey until it arrived. The tool itself was superbly made and the thinking that went into the design was evident when I used it....it was a very good deal.
